We're thinking along the same lines, but in reverse order.

This trip will be an opportunity to see a good part of the country quickly, talk to local riders and pick the areas I want to return to in future years at a slower pace.

I only need to ride about 12 hours a day to make 700 miles with stops, that leaves me 12 hours of down time before doing it again the next day.

I really like to ride long distances, mostly on two lane roads and twisties. On weekends in the summer I like to leave before sunrise and return after dark (actually a neccessity in Arizona to avoid the heat). The interstate will be a different experience.

Wow! What an awesome idea!! But like others, that is A LOT of riding in a short period. I would love to do it... but 650 miles a day is a bit much for me. Add another few days in there and I'll meet you in AZ and ride along.

Keep your mind clear, have fun, be safe and only you know what exactly you are doing it for. I personally look forward to your post after you are finished....

Everybody is Different. I love to Sight See Too, BUT I LOVE TO RIDE!!! I just finished an IronButt Ride (see ironbutt.com) Visiting Four States in about 16 hours with over 1000 miles. I loved every minute of the trip. No radio, No GPS, just ride and ride and ride. If you want to do the ride GO FOR IT. You will have a great time. I understand the importance of doing Four corners at the same trip, I am planning the same trip this summer. Even without time to stop and smell the roses, you are strill riding. As far as I am concerned, that is what it as about. Catching all 48 states, wow that will be an accomplishment you can really be proud of! I wish I had the time for that, but I am looking at 10 days to to the 4 corners, starting out in Illinois. So I have a day and a half just to get to the first point! Good Luck, Have Fun and Enjoy! One Question though. Why not get a new rear tire before you leave? WoW I just noticed the date on your post. Have you already done the ride?

Default Four Corners

The Four Corners is a fairly common ride. It's a certified ride sponsored by the SCMA. Even if you don't want to get it certified the Four Corners website has stories from folks who finished and from folks who didn't. Good reading and good info.

I recently rode the Four Corners Tour, and combined some sight seeing with riding. I could have done more of the former within the 21 days, but had a need to reach Ontario to visit with family and friends before heading west to Alaska. I ran a http://www.exrn.blogspot.com/ if you are interested.
