Just so you understand... Skyline Drive is 35 MPH, and BRP is 35, or 45 MPH. Really NOT a "quick route" and the folks in the white pick up truck, aren't always "understanding" and I hear that a FEDERAL speeding ticket is a whopping $500

just something to think about

That is why i was suggesting taking 21/ 221 south to Asheville and then the BRP to Cherokee...45 MPH You can see a much better view on the southern part of the BRP and less traffic.

Lots of good ways to get from point A to point B..but if the OP is heading from Philly, to Nashville, in 2 days, that changes just about EVERY answer...

When's it gonna warm up??? I'm getting tired of winter

If your time is limited, screw the back roads, take I 81 to I 40 to Nashville.. There is plenty to see on the Interstate to keep you entertained and you will not have to deal with all the back road stuff.. Now if your time is not limited then screw the interstate and take all the grey roads on the map from Philly to Nashville.. they each have a story to tell...

The time frame isnt enough, 2-3days. I say 5 days would be more like it, and thats with the last day ripping home on interstate. Im up in Reading Pa. 70 miles west of you, I made it to front royal virginia by dinner time. Stayed at a K.O.A. in a cabin, eat at the local mexican resturant (very good). Next morning we start at sun up and did skyline drive and and got as far as hickory NC. on the blueridge. If your in it for the ride, you dont want to miss this ride (dont worry about the 35mph speed limit, if your going faster than that your missing something.)

If you want something different, this is the way for you to go. I have been those roads at different times in my life and you would love it. Also, Picking up the BRP at Fancy Gap is a good spot. From there south is where the BRP really gets nice.

Get to the end of the BRP and you will be in the middle of a lot of things to see and ride by.

Good luck,
