Planning my first trip to Sturgis this year. Riding solo from Houston and picking up a couple other riders in Dallas for the rest of the ride.
I got the "official guide" to Sturgis Bike Week which seems to have a lot of helpful info about where to stay, where to hang out, cool rides, etc....
I am going to tent camp and made reservations at Shade Valley - I think last year was their first year open. Seems pretty close to the action without being "in the action". Any first had experience would be appreciated.
Also, any suggestions on MUST SEE / MUST DO items would be appreciated as well.
Also, are the Mad Maps worth getting? And is there any difference between the regular Mad Maps Sturgis version versus the HD version of the Sturgis Map Maps?
Last year was my first time as it's a long effin' ride from Virginia. (yeah, I rode)
Met up with fam in WI and we rode out in a group of 6. 2 of the 6 were Sturgis virgins.
The other 4 didn't worry about Sturgis maps. We all picked up that info once in Sturgis. That crap was everywhere.
Not to miss... Iron Mountain Road, Needles Hwy, Spearfish Canyon, Devils Tower... All typical 1st timer stuff, but a must-do...
