Going to the dragon for the first time in June with my Road King. I have a Canon HD camcorder that I would love to somehow rig up some kind of temporary way to record the trip while I'm riding. Any suggestions?

check into sporting goods they have ways to mount to shotguns might be able to adapt to fit your bars or somewhere else. They also make window style clamps for spotting scope that will hold cameras

I use RAM mounts to attach gear to my ride. I've never used them with a camera, but I have with 2 different GPS units and a tracking device. They've never come loose in hundreds of miles of riding. Check them out here: http://www.ram-mount.com/Products/Ca...9/Default.aspx

The Dragon is curently closed. You may want to check prior to your trip to be sure that the road has been reopened before you get there only to find a guard rail across the road with closed signs on it.
There saying it will not open until July at the earliest. I will be there for a week in June and I guess it will give me another excuse to go back next year.
I've used Ram mounts with CanonHD video camera to record on the Dragon a couple of times. Each time I was extremely pleased with the result. One suggestion though, get a long (6 in or longer) extention arm and the camera ball. It puts the camera out in the wind but at least it's away from the windshield. If you try hard you can make the viewers of the video a bit queasy.
I used a RAM mount last year mounted on the left side handle bar for my HD Camcorder. Even with the stabilization activated you will find it vibrates a lot. I would suggest mounting it to your crash bar instead.
Hmmm wonder why they are closed? I have rode it several times since its only a couple hrs away from me. I think all the roads through the smokies are as nice as the dragons tail.... lots of nice curves and BEAUTIFUL scenery!
I think I saw somewhere that with all the weather they got this year, there were some rock slides. Clearing the debris and repairing the road will take some time.
