If you get close to Birmingham AL be sure to stop in on Barber Motorsports museum. http://www.barbermuseum.org/

The collection now has over 1200 vintage and modern motorcycles with over 600 on display at any given time.

It's on my bucket list !

The Dragon reportedly will be closed thru July...but, ya can make your way down to Tellico Plains, TN and take the Cherohala Skyway instead. It'll take ya over to Robbinsville, NC...and, from there, ya can jump up to Cherokee and onto the Blue Ridge Parkway all the way to Asheville. Just before getting to Asheville, there's an exit off the BRP for US-176...follow it east to Lake Lure, NC...nice spot for an overnighter, and ya can check out the Margarita Grill for dinner. From Lake Lure, take highway 9 south to Spartanburg, SC, where ya can pick up US-176 down thru Sumter National Forest to Columbia and on to Charleston.

Also, when ya head into FL, find Perry, FL and pick up US-98 west there. Just follow US-98 west for a beautiful ride along the FL panhandle coast to Panama City Beach.

There is no Margarita Grill anymore it was sold for about 1 million and the Lake Lure Inn owns it now, not like it use to be. The ride to Lake Lure is a good ride. US 176 does not go through Lake Lure US 74 goes through Lake Lure then turn on NC9 to Spartangurg SC then US176.
