Default Natchez Trace

My buddy and I rode it last summer from Nashville to Vicksburg. It is nothing like the BRP but it is a good ride. You go through hard wood forests and swamps that have their own kind of attraction. We enjoyed the ride because there was no traffic and no cross streets and we kept a steady 55 going the whole way and never got hassled. If you do ride it do stop at Vicksburg they have a great National Battlefield Park that is well worth the time to see it. It was one of the most decisive battles of the Civil War. It was very shady so the heat was not as bad as some of the other roads we were on.

Rode the full length of the Trace last year and it was a great ride, enjoy it but it is nothing like BRP and tail of the Dragon. If you do the ride make sure you look up Mr. D's for some good fried chicken.

Painfully BORING ride. First couple of miles riding in a tunnel of trees is nice ... after a few hours of this you will be screaming out loud for a billboard, anything to look at. Plus the park cops will be flashing their lights at you all day (if you're lucky) or pulling you over for ticket if you exceed the ridiculously low speed limit by a few mph. Take the Blue Ridge Parkway ... no comparison.

+1. I rode the Trace last summer from Jackson, MS, up into TN, then gave up from boredom.

The wife and I rode the Trace last year from Nashville to Tupelo. THE most boring ride I've ever been on. We won't be doing that ride again. The backroads from Jackson Tn to Nashville were nice though

If you want twisties and speed the trace is not for you. I rode all 440 something miles of it a couple of years ago on the way to the BRP. It is different but relaxing and even peaceful. The speed limit is 50 most of the time and 40 in some places, did come across a couple of troopers, park rangers ? something.. doing license checks. Lots of history, there is even a section of the original trace you can ride.

My wife and I rode part of the trace last fall. As a few others have noted it's not as scenic as the BRP but it is a nice relaxing ride. I liked it because there wasn't as much traffic to contend with as the state highways, and it bypassed the towns rather than went through them. We only saw one cop the whole time so I guess we got lucky.

Like I've always said.......it's not the most exciting ride but it was the most peaceful stretch of road the wife and i have taken.....

Been in 44 of the lower 48 States and you can find something great about any ride.....except maybe for the interstate thru Kansas......

You're riding.......enjoy your time on the bike.......

I have ridden the upper 100 miles or so. I used to live very near the trace where it goes through the Lewis park near Hohenwald, TN when I was very young.

I agree that it is not an exciting ride, but it beats most any rides you will find where I live in Illinois. I enjoyed it, but it isn't as much fun as mountain rides.
