Just wondering if anyone has ever done this trip? Checked the local avearge temps and it looks good. I heard it's a blues fest and barbaque competition.
Plus, I've heard there are a fair amount of places to ride around there? Any
imput?
I live just a few minutes south of Memphis. It rains EVERY year for this event and Music fest becomes an overcrowded mud pit. I enjoy music and BBQ as much as the next guy, but I don't attend this event.
Now Southaven Ms has what they call "Springfest" which is BBQ, music and a bike show. That is a good time. It is the weekend of April 23rd. I've got some buddies that are in the BBQ contest again this year (Won best whole hog last year). If you decide to come down for this, let me know, I'll try to hook you up with free food and beer passes to their tent
Jeff, try posting this in the Tennessee Riders social group (you can access the group from my profile, join the group, and post your Q there). You'll more than likely get some opinions from people there who have done it before.
I live just south of Memphis in Southaven....but I've never actually gone to Tom Lee park to watch any of the concerts. I've heard it's a blast though. It's been wet for the past few years though. I have partied on Beale Street though, which is right there and is shoulder to shoulder most of the time in May. Beware of parking scams. Great live music at the bars too and they close off Beale St. for pedestrians. Also, if you get tired of partying Downtown you can head to one of the many casinos at Tunica(actually Robinsonville, MS) just 25 mins south of Memphis. I think it's worth doing once and if you like it....come again. As for riding, Unless you like straight endless roads, not a whole lot of great riding around here. Now in my opinion..... Blues, Bikes, and BBQ in Northwest Arkansas is really great. With tons of Bikes, BBQ and lots of nice back roads for great riding. But it is sometime in October If my memory serves me correct.
The music at Tom Lee Park is great. Have a meal at the Blues City Cafe on Beale....across from BB Kings. Bring boot/shoes that you don't mind walking through the muck in. It will rain.
