Ottawa Can to Philly
I am taking a trip to the US in early May. I will be crossing into the US at Ogdensburg NY, then taking the 812 to the 3 then to Governeur then the 3 to Lowville. Then south on the 12 to Utica. Then the 8 south to Sydney NY. Continue on the 8 south to the 17 then south to the 191, then onto the 196. Can anyone advise on the route, things i will see, alternate routes if you know of any work in progress, places for lunch or a beer on the way???

That's a long trip anyway. I'd stay west of this route & enjoy the ride a little more. Once you get onto 191 & go toward Stroudsburg PA, you'll actually be east of Philadelphia, and you'll hit New York City traffic in the Poconos. (Yup, bedroom NYC goes all the way out here.) I think I (myself) might do the 37 down to Watertown from Ogdensburg. Then 81 south, and take 104 west, through Oswego NY. Then take 14 south all the way into PA. 14s a great ride & runs into 15 near Williamsport PA. 15 goes all the way to Harrisburg & is a nice ride also. Have done it many times. Where in Philadelphia are you headed? Depending on where you're going, there are a couple of different things you can do in Harrisburg.

What's your time line?.....we have crossed at Ogdensburg a bunch of time when we are going to Lake Placid or heading south down the east coast....if you have a bit of time there are some great roads heading towards Philly....don't forget to go to Chicky and Pete's....there are a couple in Philly.....good eats...the one in north Philly is good just south of Princeton.
