Default Looking For Some Suggestions

The wife and I live in Kenai, Alaska. In September, we plan to ship our HOGS down to the Lower 48 and take 2 weeks to just ride. At present, we haven't made our final decision as to where wse want to start, and we're looking for some suggestions. We're leaning towards having them shipped to Las Vegas and start from there. I'd love to get some input on this. Thanks in advance

I would ride down along Rockies. Where to start? Maybe Calgary? End in Santa Fe NM? If money is not a factor then it doesn't much matter but I suspect shipping costs can vary dramatically. VA and ride the Blue ridge, then New England for the leaves changing back around to upstate NY down to NYC area...visit city by rail/bus/cab...not bike. John

Vegas isn't a bad place to start - this time of year. Any later than mid-May, and it's pushing 100 degrees or more. Although, you could start here and head into higher elevations - which is my suggestion - the Rocky Mtns: NM, CO, WY, MT, SD. Open roads out west here, spectacular scenery, and biker friendly.

But, just an fyi, don't venture into Wyoming til at least mid-June. Believe me, I lived there for almost 20 years, I could tell you stories about venturing out on longer rides in May and June thinking everything would be cool, then getting snowed on.

That said, not sure when you're planning your trip, but the southwest is beautiful this time of year, and the Rockies are great in July and August. One thing is for certain, you DO NOT want to be riding in the northern Rockies this time of year. Yeah, you'll get some good days, but then, not so good. Wouldn't make for a very pleasant riding vacation.

My two cents! Sounds like blast, have fun!!

Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, and anything you have time left to do.
