Route recommendations for avoiding Houston

Hi All,

My girlfriend and I are going to be spending 10 days in Texas. We'll be finishing up the trip in Corpus Christi and will be heading north out of there on our getaway day. I really want to try and avoid the Houston traffic so it looks like I need to keep East of Houston.

I'm looking for recommendations on a good route to get me past Houston up to I-10.

Houston is easy with the new toll road. Came from Austin recently and was amazed at how easy it really was. Good riding

Assuming you are departing Corpus Christi, driving the interstate to get home, and home is Des Moines, Iowa, then Google Map suggests I-37 to I-35. Can't be much easier than that.

The Google route doesn't even come within 200 miles of Houston, and certainly not east of Houston and nothing to do with I-10 except to cross it just east of San Antonio.

I hope that solves your fear of Houston.
