Default Urban Riding: Anyone Do It?

I know these bikes were made for the open road and they, and I, are right at home there. Life's good with the wind in my face like that.

And in addition to that, I guess because I bought my first bike when I lived in San Antonio, I grew up used to what I call urban riding. As long as a) it's not too hot outside, and b) traffic isn't bad, I kind of enjoy urban riding. Checkin' out new neighborhoods up close and in general gettin' a little closer to the city than I usually would if I was in a cage. And one big plus is that because the cops tend to hang around the ice houses in the suburbs and often away from town, I don't have to worry about that when bar hopping in town. I don't know why, but at least during the day, they don't seem to spend much time lookin' for bikers at bars and ice houses in town. So as long as I'm not gettin' trashed, it's all good that way. And some of the drives, like Memorial and Allen Parkway here in Houston, are absolutely beautiful from a bike.

Anyone else do anything like that?

Cheers!
W

Weekend nights are the best for this type of activity.

Cruising through Downtown Cleveland after a Tribe game, or hitting the major roads on the outskirts of town are great.

Makes for some interesting people-watching.

Motorcycles have been my main, and quite often only, mode of transportation for 39 of the last 42 years. It was much nicer back in the '60s or 70's when Vegas was a small town, especially away from the tourist areas.

But now we are a big city, with too much traffic almost everywhere. But summer night rides out in the desert are great!

Living in Vegas the whole place is "urban". We have great areas of open nothing to ride in but you have to ride in pleanty of "urban" when you live here.

Eyeball, I've seen so much of it I'm pretty much burned out on the girl on girl thing, but I gotta admit it's hard to get past that avatar of yours without a double take.

Rented a Cross Bones in Dubai, no getting around the Urban Thing there and I'll take the back roads any day. The fresh air, the smells, the roads and the freedom of an open road just can't be beat.

Riding down the cement hallway like roads down there at night is kinda fun. I haven't done it in a while though.

The only time I will do the urban thing is when it's off peak times. I hate being on the bike in traffic. I got caught in backed up traffic on the interstate Thursday. Sure enough saw a cage rear end another.

Hey Bobby H how did you enjoy riding in Dubai? I was there just before Christmas; a couple day stop-over while I was deployed to Afghanistan. Canadian soldiers get a leave period when deployed. I really wanted to check out the HD dealership there but due to time constraints I unfortunately did not make the trip. Instead walked around the Gold Souke area, quite an eye-opener.

Most times I find myself doing a fair bit of Urban Riding, I enjoy it most of the time but as stated above traffic and alot of stop and go's is a bummer. It's nice especially on a freshly detailed sparkling bike. I will not ride unless my bike is spotless!
