Once you said you rode up through the Virgin River Gorge in the morning back in Utah, I would think that would have erased all the previous bad juju. That ride in the morning is one of the most amazing two-wheel experiences available to mortals.
Its still my best adventure but not sure I would want to do again. 10 day ride from western pa thru the androndacks and New England states. Rained at least once everyday. The first day on the road, rained so hard we had to pull over quite a few times. Steady all day long. We get into forksville NY and decide to call it a night. Middle of no where, few amenities but a charming little town. One hotel, one bed and breakfast, next town is 30 miles away but road is washed out, emergency vehicles closing road down the way we came in. Talked to several people no way out. We ended up a few miles out of town sleeping under a pavillion on a picnic table, bikes at our side. What a miseable day. Several road closures throughout the trip most with no detours. As bad as it was its the one we talk about the most.

Used to ride up to Brian Head for a rally every July, leave Vegas about 4:00 and break into the Gorge as the sun was stretching over the horizon. It's beautiful!!!
my older brother was riding down to Key West from his home in Titusville in 1990 when he was run down by a drunk passing cars on Card Sound Road near Alabama Jacks. We had his memorial service at the park in Titusville and I strapped his ashes to my sportster and rode to Key West and finished his trip. Once there we chartered a schooner named the Widow and dumped his ashes in the sea at sunset near the Dry Tortugas. Still ride to Key West every year in March, last year was the 20th anniversary of his passing, seems like it was yesterday..
Got stuck in a monsoon in AZ. Rode through sleet on top of Beartooth Pass last July. But my absolute worse ride was riding Pikes Peak! Deep ruts, slooooow cars, and wicked elevation - I couldn't wait to get off of that mountain!
Can’t say I had a real bad ride but my worst was riding a poker run put on by ABATE in KS. Rode all day in the rain and had the winning hand, until they let this kid come out of an RV with marked cards to pick the winning hand. That’s a bad ride.
