Default Memphis BBQ?

We will be passing through Memphis next week on our way to Arkansas, and would like to try some of the famous Memphis BBQ. Any place recommended that is close to US 78? I heard of a place called Tom's BBQ, and it looks like a pretty easy side trip.

FWIW, we hadn't previously heard of the Blues, Bikes and BBQ thing going on in AR, so we will be arriving in Mountain View the Sunday after! Typical of my usual planning.

Not so sure of how close it is to 78 but the best BBQ & ribs IMO can be had at the Blues City Cafe http://www.bluescitycafe.com/ on Beale.

I've eaten ribs at quite a few places in and around Memphis. Can't go wrong at The Rendezvous.

Thanks folks! All of those places look great. Come to think of it, I have heard of The Rendevous. We may have to just stop for the night in Memphis.

Charlie Vegas Rendevous is well known and very good.
Interstate BBQ also good, started and still ran by the Neely family. www.interstatebarbecue.com
Corky BBQ is also good www.corkysbbq.com
Memphis style is a dry rub BBQ, most have a tomato based sauce on the side, I have never met a BBQ piece of pork I didn't like.

Corky's is great!! You don't necessarily have to get the dry rub. They also sell the traditional "wet" ribs.

I forgot about Corky's. Excellent and they'll ship anywhere in the country.
