I've eaten at Rendezvous and Corky's "world famous" and they were ok at best. I really enjoyed Neely's best.
We went to the one downtown and they treated us like they were happy to have us as customers.

Not so sure of how close it is to 78 but the best BBQ & ribs IMO can be had at the Blues City Cafe http://www.bluescitycafe.com/ on Beale.
