SF Bay Area to OR
Already trying to think of a trip for the spring time as soon as the tax season is over with. 
Anyway, I'm thinking of going at least as far as Roseburg, via I5 then cutting over to the coast and coming back down to the Bay Area. Any recommendations? Should I plan on making Coos Bay my turn around point. I definitely want to spend a little time at the Rogue River. TIA

if going as far as roseburg might as well go onover to coos bayeither thru drain or hwy 42 coos bay has theonly hd dealer on the oregon coast so good place if you need anything at that time and you are only 100 miles north of the rogue river. for sure take the jet boat ride up the river then on into the redwoods a good place to stop is the cook house that is across the bay from eureka on samoa lots of great history and good food also.

I-5 is BORING!!! From the Bay Area, take US 1 up to Mendicino, then go by US101. If your in a hurry, just do US101. It is sooooo much better than I5, unless you really have to kill off one day. Unfortunately, unless you want to back track on the same road, it really is I-5 or US 101. A nice loop might be US1 up to Mendicino, US101 to Coos Bay, cut over to Roseburg (the road to Grants Pass is not too good, I-5 to Grants Pass, US199 back to the coast and then US101 back to Bay Area.
