Default Museum?

I'm thinking of making a trip to Milwaukee to see the HD Museum. I've been to Milwaukee before, so I don't have to do a lot of sightseeing. My question is, how many Hours or Days should I allow for really seeing the Museum? If I'm going to take the trip from NC, I want to make sure I see all there is to see. Thanks.

Default not much time at all

if you spend a whole day that would be more than enought time, even if you read all the material for each display. And the restaurant is lousy.

Check the H-D website and click museum.. they have some behind the scenes tours you can take.. extra $ of course.. they only offer them a couple days a week.. one tour takes you off site to a H-D plant.. I know its more money but since you don't know if or when you will be back, do as much as you can while you are in the area..

Plan on spending the day for the Museum. As said above, if you pay an extra $30?? they will shuttle you over to the HD Menomenee Falls plant for an indepth 1 hour? factory tour. Sadly, the Capital Drive plant is closed. That was a great free tour. But if you do both, then you will need an extra day because it takes at least a half hour (one way)to get over to the plant on the shuttle. I believe you can also ride over to the Meno Falls plant for a free 15 min deal without reservations. I did the 1 hour tour last summer. Hard to say if it was worth it - I won a free tour. Also check Milwaukee Craigslist for discount Museum tickets. Usually sell for $10 compared to $16 at the door. Expensive but good eats are right across the bridge - south - at the Iron Horse Hotel. The hotel is geared to bikers. Cheap Mexican eats also across the bridge - same south - at Conejitos (paper plates) but great food and a Milw favorite. Around that whole area are wonderful Mex restaurants jus keep going south - 6th and National Ave. Be sure to take a ride out of town a bit (going the same north direction as the Meno Falls plant) to the Holy Hill area. Wonderful winding roads that take you to a very scenic church at one of the highest peaks in SE Wisconsin. Tons of bikers make that mini trip. Ask any local and they will get you there.
If you need any Milw advice, just ask. I live here.
