I want to spend three days in Canada before Sturgis this summer. I plan on going to Lake Louise and Calgary, and back to Montana. Any hints or anything to be aware of. Never been out of the country before. I do have a passport. Thanks
Make sure you let your credit/debit card company know you will be traveling to Canada (ask me how I know). Do not attempt to take weapons into Canada. If you have a past DUI, expect a delay while they check out your record. Some are denied entry for for this reason. Money was not an issue for me. They accepted American dollars everywhere in Alberta and British Columbia. Prices are very high on everything in Canada. Other than that, expect to have a great time in a beautiful country.
I do this trip every year to visit family up in Calgary. There are many great roads to take on the way up and back... always look forward to that trip!! Pretty simple going between USA/Canada... just make sure you have your passport. Enjoy, you will have a great trip!
Thanks for advice about insurance, hadn't thought about that. The trip is just a road trip, no fishing. Cadanian rockies and lake louise has been on my bucket list, thought this is the year, making a long trip to sturgis.
There is a toll highway called the Icefields Parkway from Banff to Jasper-it is the ride of a lifetime and not to be missed, watch out for RV's stopping suddenly so they can jump out and take pics of the jaw dropping scenery or to feed animals. Other than that, its an amazing ride. Have fun, leave your guns at home if you have 'em
Oh and BTW, our beer is addictive ;-)
Gas is a bit higher... make sure your insurance and medical covers you...might be smart to get extra coverage.
lol dude you kidding me if you get hurt in canada we will fix you up right away free of charge ,and say thank you after doing it..insurance coverage is always good no matter where you travel, and gas is just outrageous here.. gotta find someway to pay for free medical lol
