Many years ago when I did a long solo, I discovered that most bait-and-tackle convenience stores off the beaten track are owned by people who own a bit of land. Some of my best camping sites were "go down this highway till you get to the tree that got struck by lightning four years ago. Turn down the two-track and go till it ends. If your bike can make it, go ahead on down to the lakeside, or hike down. Nobody will bother you.

Except the one night a sheriff or something in a johnboat came by to check out my campfire. It was cool, though, when he called the owner and he had my back.

Sometimes, forgiveness is hard to come by, and sometimes permission is gun control.

Don't worry about snakes, worry about scorpion's.Snake's don't like you anymore than you like them but those nasty little scorpion's get in everything and, they hurt.Watch night time temp's,under 70 snake's are'nt moving much if at all, snake guy's and, naturalist's claim 78 to 98 is prime temp's for snakes but that's during daylight,no ear's move's whenever they want and not uncommon at all to see them moving and, hunting at well over a 100 after dark.
