Default Driving advice

Need some help from the brothers up north - will be ridin' back from baker, mt. And am considering using rt 12 instead in the i-94 as the gps suggests and was wondering if anyone has taken this rt. Back to minneaplois. Would like to get off the major road but still make decent time if that's possible - please advice and thank you.

I have been on 12 many times. Not too bad of a road but it seems like in the summer there is always road construction that requires some kind of detour. Check the web before you go. Depending on the day and time, weekday and afternoon rush hour, traffic can get pretty bad from about Maple Plain all the way into the cities. Then it gets worse.
