It's been more than 15 years since I've been to Reno, and never with a bike. When my ex and I used to drive through, we often stayed at Circus Circus.
I'm going to be in Reno for a couple of days this fall (the week BEFORE the bike festival!), and I'm wondering if there is anything to choose between Circus Circus, Silver Legacy, and El Dorado, in terms of convenience when traveling by bike? I'm thinking about parking, loading and unloading, etc.
My somewhat vague recollection is that the CC parkade used to have "tire shredders" that are likely not to friendly to bike tires, while the SL check-in was on the second floor. I've never stayed at the El Dorado.
Any personal experiences would be much appreciated.
The downtown hotels/casinos you mention all have covered parking structures.
Check-out the Sands Regency. I stay there because it's less expensive. Rooms are large and clean. There is also a motorcycle only area on the first level of the parking structure.
Also, Mel's 50's style diner inside the Sands serves up the best breakfasts at the best prices.
All that you mentioned have covered parking. I have stayed at all three. El Derado and Silver Legacy are nicer then Circus Circus. If yo dont mind staying off the strip area, I also like the Peppermill and Atlantis, much nicer joints.
I am in Reno right now with my bike if you would like me check any of those out. Also my Brother in Law lives here and I will ask him for any insider information...

Thanks, lonn -- I hadn't even thought of the Sands (and I will!).

Thanks, Bugspit.
I stayed at the SL once when we flew down, and liked it a lot. I just had no experience with their parking system.

Thanks, glide.
Any advice your brother-in-law has is much appreciated.
Last time I went I stayed at the Eldorado. I tipped the Valet a $20 and parked right there by the door for a few days. I felt pretty secure parking it there. The casino was a little run down though. Ended up going over to Tahoe for the rest of the week and had a real nice time. Reno is pretty run down in the downtown area. I noticed the south end of town was a lot nicer.
