There are many but this one is one of my favorites it's a 3 pass ride. You take HWY 12 west out of Yakima then HWY 410 over Chinook Pass then south on HWY 123 Cayuse Pass into MT Rainer NP then east over White Pass HWY 12 back to Yakima .
Chinook Pass is still closed because of snow pack but should be open any day.Cayuse Pass should be open today for the Memorial Day weekend. It's a 150 + mile ride with some great roads and beautiful views of MT Rainer http://www.bing.com/maps/?v=2&cp=46....0~&form=LMLTCC

I was planning on going through the north cascades highway next weekend. Having never been to Washington I was wondering what to expect. I know they just recently opened up the road but has anybody been up there lately.
The North Cascade HWY 20 is open and should remain open all summer into mid fall. You should check the WA State DOT web site just in case they close it because of a alvalance.
It,s a great ride you will love it.
Thanks for the link. The pass is open but it sounds like they are still plowing snow every morning. Hopefully by next week the situation improves. Oh well still lot's of time and other roads.
Looking for a few different day rides for the yakima area of washington state. Thanks!!
Depends what you think is a day trip....
You could take US 12 west to Randle, then down the 25 and do the eastern approach to Mt. Ste. Helens. Continue south to the 14, east to US 97 and home.
US 97 north to Leavenworth and US 2 to Gold bar is nice -- your choice of routes home.
I also agree with skydrifter that highway 20 through the North Cascades is well worth doing.
Check out the Washington volume of the Destination Highways series (http://www.destinationhighways.com/) -- I have no affiliation, although I did know one of the authors in a previous life.
HWY 12 (white pass) sucks right now, you could easily injure yourself or bike with the pot holes and frost heaves. Yak to Goldendale to Glenwood to Hood River to The Dallas bak to Yak is a good ride. The Bickleton loop is a good one. When are you planning to do this ride? I'm always looking for a day off.
