The Trace is great, but allow plenty of time, 'cause you'll want to stop at a lot of the great historical and beautiful sites along the way. It really takes over a day and a half to ride and take in most of the stops. The road is closed between mi. 215-205 due to tornado damage, but its a nice easy detour. Grand Gulf State Park, near Port Gibson, MS, is our secret little jewel. It's very close to the place where U.S Grant crossed the MS river to begin the seige of Vicksburg. The museum had to be closed, and all the stuff moved temporarily, due to the flood. Probably won't be reopened by the time you go by, but be sure to stop in town and check. A great twisty ride down to the park. And on your way up US 61, definitely plan on the Vicksburg Military Park, It's a ride-through park, beautiful, shaded, and awesome.
1st day we are doing start of trace to tuscombia, alabama.
2nd day finish out the trace ride
3rd day going to stay in natchez do the horse and carriage mansion tour and hope they have good weather for fireworks show.

Wish we had another day to add to the trip and slow down even more but it would not fit into the schedule.
Offers the same as Flylows. You get around this area and have any problems let me know....When you pass the Hwy 51 exit on the Trace (think its around mile 106 of the trace) just give a honk...Ill hear ya!.... If it was winter and all the leaves were gone i would be able to see ya!
Birddog drop me a PM let me know when you are in Natchez. I might be able to take off work and run over and grab a sandwitch and beer with yall. Or at least shoot a couple of pics of everybody there on the Mississippi River Bluff.
Be sure and go throug the Vicksburg Battle Field Park and do take the time to watch the National Park Service presentation, just ask MRJ28 from Australia, he certainly enjoyed the narative.
Don Enlow (flylow)
I live within minutes of hwy's 24 and 79 in Clarksville. If you decide to stop in the area or need help let me know. Don't miss fort donelson on hwy 79 near LBL. There's a civil war not to far from there also.
