Default my natchez run

Getting ready to leave to run the natchez trace parkway. just wanted to hear from anyone thats ran some of these roads to see how they are. have a week or so to change things up if needed. this is run down of the trip.

Leave indiana run hard down I65 to nashville (noting to see on interstate).

do the trace and see as much as we can.

Now the roads i am curious about. when we leave natchez we are going to head up to memphis on US 61 out of memphis we will catch US 79 up into ky and go thru the land between the lakes before catching 24 back to I65.
Just wanting to know if anyone has run 61 and 71 and if the was a good bike road for cruising and the area.

We only have 5 days to do the trip working out to about 330 miles a day so will be a relaxed run but still wish we had more time.
Thanks in advance.

We did the trace last year but did the Land between the lakes on our way down, we take mostly 2 laners on our trips so I do not know the highways, but we went down past Evensville and stayed around Madisonville the first night, then hit the LBL in the morning and jetted over to the Loveless Cafe for (late) lunch and hit the trace after that. We took it all the way to the bottom and then crossed over to texas and then worked our way back to Indiana.
To me riding the natchez trace was like watching paint dry, not much to see but a "dry creek bed" every once in a while....I guess if your into that kind of history though????..... The LBL is cool, they actually call that the real Trace.
If it were me I would ride the Trace for a few miles (to say u were there) and head west to Arkansas & up to Missouri and home, there are some way cool riding roads in those two states!

Me and a buddy are a couple of civil war history nuts so we are using this trip to hit some battlefields. (oops forgot to mention that to the OL). we have have been going like an ape with it's *** on fire a at work so a little time of watching paint dry will be good. just looking for a nice slow trip thru the back roads.

I first did the Trace, maybe nine years ago? The day after hurricane Lily ran through. I found it a peaceful ride with lots of history tossed in. Ok, no big scenery like Colorado or 574 miles of turns in the woods and mountain tops like Skyline and the BRP. But still it had 442 miles of roadway through low land pine forest, lot's of cotton fields and no stop signs. Oh, no harassing drivers either. I like lonely roads.

I found a nice photo spot at a cypress swamp north of Jackson. So interesting I came back in my van with a large format view camera a year later just to do some serious photography. There is a very quite beauty to the Trace. You have to slow down and let it come to you.

I go in the spring and fall. I would rather not sweat 24-7. Hey, just say'in.

Oh, forgot to say, the only reason to ride highway 61 is for the Delta Blues Museum in Clarksdale, MS.

Backyard is the 2nd Ridgeland exit on the trace. Only thing painful about it is it drops down to 40 mph through here and there is a TON of traffic to include bicycles. Lots and lots of bicycles.......

The trace is my "get off half day on Fridays and have a few hours to kill ride" Ive actually never been more than 50 miles north of Jackson on the Trace as I just moved here in October. I have ridden the entire route down to Natchez though. Again its a nice peaceful ride. Very little curves of any sort though.... Good ride to clear your head.

Buzzard's comment sums it up for me: "You have to slow down and let it come to you". It's a tranquil ride filled with history, gentle roads, and little traffic. My October ride was great: Tranquil Trace
