Mount Evans
We went up Mt Evans in July 2010. As we're on the peak 2 HDs came in. The parking lot was getting full and they stopped at the beginning area of the lot. It's kind of steep there. Don't know what happened to the one. His OL got off and while he was getting off his bike fell on its side and it's steep enough there that his bike slid 10-15 ft on its side. Don't know if he forgot to put his kickstand down but that's what it looked like. They left before we got down from the peak.
I heard that they close the road to the top of Mt. Evans after Labor Day. Is that regardless of the weather, or is it possible to get to the top if weather permits toward the end of September? We are heading that way around the 18th or 19th of September -- riding the P 2 P highway down from Estes for a long day trip.
Great pic's BTW... Looking forward to getting up there as far as possible.
Thanks in advance...

The Mount Evans Road (Colorado 5) is now open 24/7 for the 2011 season. NOW open to the summit! All 15 miles. The road will remain open 24/7 until September 6, 2011 when the top 5 miles will close for the season. The top 5 miles of the Mount Evans Road will be closed before dawn on Tuesday, September 6, 2011. REMEMBER: Colorado Mountains do make their own weather and if weather condition require (snow and/or ice), there may be temporary closures during the summer months.
