A couple of buddies and me are planning a trip Oct 11 taking the ferry from Juneau AK to Bellingham WA and traveling down HWY 101 to Redding CA, then going east and heading north towards Yakima WA and going over the Snowqualmie Pass back to Bellingham by the 21st.
What kind of weather could we expect in October on 101?
What are the chances of running into ice and/or snow on Snowqualmie Pass that time of year?
Snow should not be a concern on Snoqualime Pass in October not to say it can't happen but not likely, rain is more likely .
There are better ways to get over the Cascades then Snoqualime Pass I-90 .
Chinook Pass HWY 410 west of Yakima is a great ride it takes you right into MT Rainer NP south of Seattle .
Another is HWY 2 Stevens Pass west of Wenatchee takes you just north of Seattle to Everett .
One other would keep you in Central WA longer where it is usually warmer and drier. Take 97 north out of Yakima to HWY 20 then west over the North Cascade HWY another great ride to MT. Vernon just south of Bellingham.
