Thanks Mike. It ain't much but it's home. I think it could be why I appreciate the rest of our great land. Because of this vast dusty expanse I call home

If your coming to Canada next year, keep my name handy. You can head West from Calgary & roll to the coast in Vancouver. Jump on the ferry over to Vancouver island & head for my place. I will put ya up, take ya on a tour & toss back a few cool ones!
The other poster in Vancouver area can be your main land tour guide!
Hatch.

Another nice run would be The Duffy Lake road, through Lytton and Lillooet and then into Pemberton and Whistler and wind up in Vancouver. If you want take up mkguitar up. He sent me some awesome rides in Arizona. All the Best in the planning stages. It will be an awesome time.
Side note. If you wanted to take in a bike rally. Check out the Oyster Run in Anacortes Washington. It is about 2 hours from Vancouver BC. The trouble is it is on the last Sunday in September. It is the biggest one day bike event in the Pacific Northwest.

My suggestion would be to check out the "Toad Rock" motorcycle campground in Balfour, British Columbia. The owner (Mary) has tents, cabins and even an old VW micro-bus to rent if you don't come equipped with camping gear. While in the area, check out Ainsworth Hotsprings. Take the road from Kaslo to New Denver (considered one of the best riding roads in Canada.) Then down to Nelson and back to Balfour (one day trip). There are so many beautiful places in southern B.C. This is just one of many. No matter where you travel, you won't be disappointed.

All I can say is I am overwhelmed by the response an generosity shown already, including PM's

It is well known that Canadians are amongst the friendliest in the world, but this goes beyond that, thank you very much.

You have certainly convinced us, we'll be there

The Wharf Rat Rally on the Labour Day weekend is the fastest growing motorcycle rally in North America. There was between 75000-80000 there this year. www.wharfratrally.com

Nova Scotia is a great riding province. Stick to the coastal routes and avoid the 100-series highways.

dont rule out Ontario. Northern Ontario offers some beatiful roads tha wind through some of the best that the Canadian Sheild has to offer. Toronto can be a bummer with traffic on a hot day, but an hour north or east of toronto offers some great riding and if you are lonley for US territory you can tour up through northern ontario and loop around and back south through northern mishigan. Lighthouses, beaches, ship wrecks and great roads. Just watch for wildlife! Whatever you do...Enjoy our country.

Few years ago I did a trip with the wife out of Seattle, whent east to Levenworth is really worth the ride, they have a bike rally there check dates but is a nice area to ride, then headed north to BC and took the ferry to Victoria, the whole trip I barely went past 50 mph so I could really enjoy the scenery.

Well Guys, I had some great responses to this when I posted back in September.

It is that time now that I need to start booking flights and getting really serious about this. I love this phase of a big trip...

I am guessing it is going to be 1st / 2nd week in September. It looks to me like flying to Calgary or Vancouver is the way to go.

I liked the look of the route MKGuitar has proposed and will investigate that more thoroughly. I don't think we will do much more that 300 miles a day. I know that may not be what "real men" do in some opinions, but this is also about slow starts, slow lunches and the craic with a really good mate (dont tell him I said that).

Just a post to let you all know that this now almost certainly on. Please feel free to chime in.

PS - if there are people out there that want to do something in the UK or Europe, I would be delighted to help it in the same way these generous people already have.

Good luck and safe travels whatever route you choose, you can't go wrong! If you're ever on the Eastern part of the country, take a day or two and drive across PEI - Will & Kate were here last summer.
