check out the new Nikon 1 J1. Interchangeable lenses, shoots movies, fits in t eh palm of your hand...or in a shirt pocket, 10 frames per second, fast focus. What I would buy if I didn't already have a Nikon.
I like my Canon Elf....forget which model it is but has all the features plus Image Stabilization....good to have while shooting from a motorcycle. The ultimate however is my Drift Innovations HD170 Stealth helmet cam!
I'm a Canon guy but Costco has the Sony cybershot HX-7 for $99. 16mp and a 10x zoom. I haven't been able to find this camera anywhere for under $220 so I'm puzzled as to why Costco has it so cheap. For a simple point and shoot that won't break the bank it seems hard to beat. Plus Costco has a 90 return policy. Picked one up for my daughter as a Christmas present.
I have a Sony hx100v super zoom. Its a slr style with a 800 zoom. It takes great pictures but may be a little large on the bike. My go to camera is a Nikon P7100. It is mid size and takes fantastic pictures. Lots of user adjustments at your fingertips. Quick focus too. And a 7x zoom too.
I have a Samsung Memory cam with a Ram mount for the trike. It has the ability to take photos & video. It can also be set to take photos at programed intervals. I tested it on my van & even at highway speeds the photos were great. This camera is smaller than a twinkie.
Just a tip....leave camera on landscape setting when moving and Don't use the zoom...any slight movement of the camera while zoomed in will cause far more noticeable blur. When you down load the pictures later, zoom and crop then.
Even when you use a digital when standing still, if you zoom and move the camera at all....blur.
The wife has taken hundreds of picture riding on the back and she has learned never to zoom in....

+1 This is an awesome Camera. A good friend of mine has one and loves it. It's been a late add on my wifes Christmas list.

BIG +1 on this. Sony has a model that is almost identical so i would compare price between the two because these cammeras are not cheap. but they are worth it. you do not get that delay like you get with most digital cameras.
This is always a quandry. I do a lot of photography on the side. So, when I go for a ride and want to take good photos, I always fall back on bringing my DSLR. But, that's not really practical all the time, so the simplest solution is to take the cell phone and use its camera. It's not great, by any stretch, but at least it's much smaller than my good camera.
I do a lot of dslr photos too. they got some good advanced point and shoots out now that are compact. lately Ive been bringing my gopro tho. nice little camrea
