Question Oklahoma Bound

Hey all - not sure even if this belongs here, but I'm moving to Oklahoma (Broken Arrow) in 3 weeks. I've been checking the net for laws, etc but find different answers on a 'dead horse' question. I was looking for exhaust laws, specifically ones regarding changing/modified exhaust, slip-ons for instance.

Some sites say OK is like CA and you have to have OEM exhaust, and a couple say there is no accoustical limits?

Anyone know for sure?

Thanks
V

I would take your questions to the "Regional Events, Rides and Road Reports" Forum and direct your ??'s in the correct geographical area.

Try Dave Law for OK motorcycles.
Sound restrictions are normally local code not state.

One good thing about OK is the lack of annual vehicle inspections.

Welcome to Green Country!!!! You don't have to worry about loud pipes much as long as you aren't just trying to see how much noise you can make.

Don't sweat it. The noise ordinances here are specific for the individual city. Tulsa has one, and a specific area known as "Brookside" where if you're being a jerk and revving your bike, you might get stopped and ticketed.

Other than that, Oklahoma is biker friendly. Even the police here wanted aftermarket pipes on their bikes so they could be heard better. You won't have any issues. Especially in B.A. A lot of the cops there ride bikes and understand. I used to work with them.

Welcome to Oklahoma. I think you'll like it. Unfortunately, you're arriving in the dead of Winter. Some days you can ride, some you can't.

Thanks guys. As far as moving this time of year it had all to do with finding a place to live. Took close to a year to find a house.

Welcome to Oklahoma. I have to agree with the previous post that Oklahoma really is biker friendly and I haven't heard any having to many problems with loud pipes before. Like Danny said you will learn that you are going to have some winter days that you can really get it out and ride then you will wake up to a foot of snow.

Welcome! I just live down the road a few miles. No worries on exhaust unless you really, really are just being a jerk. No helmet required either. I haven't ever been messed with here, rode in this state for 6 years now, never even been pulled over. I ride alot, 30K a year, Oklahoma is pretty cool, but Tulsa city drivers are CRAZY! You'll learn really fast to watch out for them. Otherwise, it's a cool place to live and ride. Arkansas is just a hour East with GREAT riding!!!!
