Ok Here is a nice trip JMO 101 and 1 down the coast to Fortuna over 36 to Red Bluff on up 36 to 89 to Lake Almanor/Chester from there you can go in a bunch of different directions and it's all beautiful on into Susanville from there you can go south into Reno or north back toward Or. and Wa if you go north right in the middle of Susanville take the 139 north it takes you up on the Maddilian Plains there are Antelope up there sometimes that takes you up to Klamath Falls Or. then however you want to go back to WA. from there, However all that route as well as the next one I am going to suggest you are a little early in the year (could find SNOW anywhere).
A route that in the early spring is Friggin awesome is once you get to the I 5 even if you go down the 101 further than Fortuna (which is probably a better choice for your time of year) to the 20 accross to the I 5 or the 16 or even further south (just depends on if you want to get into the Bay area or not) anyway what I am trying to get you to is hwy 49 way down south so maybe get over to the 99 and go down to around Merceed then up the 140 to the 49 then north on the 49 until it ends at the 70 by Portola that is one of the most beautiful spring time riding you will find in Ca. Lots of twisties you are running along the western side of the Sierras up through Gold Country through some of the coolest little Gold Rush towns, and it usually warms up pretty good on that side of the Valley, only drawback is once you get to Placerville you might start running into weather but like was posted above they are having a pretty mellow winter so I say GO FOR IT!!.
Hope this helps and enjoy the **** out of your ride.
Oh yea I forgot to say from this old Viet Nam Vet thank you for your service.
