Took a little ride yesterday that I call my Circle Tour.. it takes me from the Springs west to Salida on Hiway 50 then north on 285 towards Buena Vista, then back east towards the Springs over Trout Creek Pass at 9300' and Wilkerson Pass at 9500'. It was a nice day, kinda chilly at the higher elevations but the heated gear works great and it always nice to be out riding...
We probably came close to passing. Rode the Tarryall Road down from South Park to Lake George, paused in Florissant, lunch in Woodland Park, before returning to Park County via the Deckers Road. Great pics. Something about an early spring ride.

Hey Steve, I am thinking about doing that road this weekend after reading your book. Also want to make Rita's place one day to eat. Can't wait for the higher passes to clear!
Definitely check out Rita's Place in Guffey sometime. It isn't a "biker" kind of place, but Rita loves motorcyclists, the food is excellent, and there is some kind of special atmosphere there in that authentically rustic town. I hear the Pikes Peak HOG chapter rides there every year. An idea, perhaps sometime later in the spring, I collect my riding friend Rick who lives near Deckers, we meet you in Woodland Park, and we ride to Guffey. Got to wait until Rick can get his Ultra out of his shady, hilly, snow covered driveway!
As for the Tarryall Road, Park County Road and Bridge delightfully poured some dirt on areas of broken chip seal between the Tarryall Reservoir and the old Tarryall townsite. So, for about 13 miles of this 40+ mile road, there are scattered patches of dirt covering the road for 30 - 100 feet. I've already taken Park County R&B to task for doing this recently. That said, the remaining 27 miles are divine, especially the new 17 miles north of the reservoir all the way to Jefferson on U.S. 285. Every year the feds help fund more miles of Tarryall road re-engineering and paving. I hope they tackle those 13 miles this summer. Just mentioning this so you know what to expect.
