It is a beautiful ride, but the 50 MPH speed limit is a killer even if you cheat.
Sounds like a way to test a riders resolve. How long can one holdout at 55 before they break and pin it.
I can see the headlines...motorcyclists loses his patience and is caught speeding on the Natchez Trace at 120 mph.
Loveless Cafe is a must do before getting on the Trace.
Boswell's does have a cafe.
You should go to Liepers Fork and go to Puckett's Grocery, music and good food, well marked signs along the Trace will direct you.

I can see the headlines...motorcyclists loses his patience and is caught speeding on the Natchez Trace at 120 mph.I got a ticket on the Trace back in 78. Clocked at 75, then 72. He wrote the ticket for 70 as anything over 70 you had to go to court. Mailed in $20. Not bad. The Department of the Interior handles the inforcement or at least they did then.
My wife and I have ridden the Trace from Nachez Mississippi up to just North of Jackson Mississippi. Stopped at a turn-out near a swamp and got some great pictures of Gators sunning on logs in the water. It is a great cruising ride, the 50mph is a killer but it gives you a chance to see all the beautiful landscape. There is some really interesting history about the area. Be careful as the sun starts to go down, we have seen deer, bobcats and wild turkey come out of the trees and cross the road. Nice relaxing ride.
I've ridden the entire Trace from Nashville to Natchez a couple of times. The northern half and the southern half are very different geographically but both are worth the ride. Rode a section of it two weeks ago in middle Tennessee and Alabama and had to really watch out for the wild turkeys.
I find the city of Natchez at the southern end to be a very cool little down, especially the old historic section down on the river. A detour at Jackson to visit the Vicksburg National Battlefield is worth it too.
