Default Long Rides

With the How long have you rode thread, I have rode about 600 miles in a day.

I have an appointment scheduled to send my seat off to get the double memory foam in a couple of weeks.

I can usually ride 80-100 miles before I start getting uncomfortable. Stop at 125 or so for gas and a break and then i am good to go again.

Can you do anything to help the with butt burn?

Get some beadriders, they work. I've tried different seats and to me the beadriders always won out. They allow air to flow under you as you ride so mo monkee butt.

Stopping though every 120 miles isn't too bad though. If I am riding solo I stop every 125 to 150 miles and fill up and stretch out, If my wife was riding along I would stop every 75 to 100 miles so she could stretch out.

Another thing to try is to not have anything in your back pockets.

If you don't have them, the H-D seat pads work great in hot weather.
No more "wet" body parts!

I got one for my butt and my back and my wige got one for her bike also.

Default Stop the Burn

I was about the same with my stock seat, after 2-3 hours the butt was really complaining. Tried the seat rework with memory foam which was an improvement but still couldn't spend a day in the saddle. A search of this forum finds a lot of different recommendations and a lot of different results. Yet to me it seemed that after reading through a bunch of the "best seat" type threads that the Mustang seat seemed to work the best. So finally plunked down the cash for the Mustang and couldn't be happier. I can now put in 6-8 hours in the saddle and sure the butts a little uncomfortable but no more of that screaming pain that has you constantly shifting your position for some relief.

I have no affiliation with the company, just a satisfied customer. OF course, your results may vary............

For true png distance, a Russell Day Long seat is tops, Mustang my second favorite. Cheaper fixes with mixed results: beadrider seat needs (I hated them), harley seat pad (I found nominal improvement), sheepskin seat cover (supposedly good for both hot and cold weather, I've never tried), compression shorts are an improvement and certainly taking wallet out of the back pocket. I've never tried the "monkey butt" type products, but ive heard good things.

Cheapest and most reliable: stop as soon as you start to squirm. An IBA motto is "stop more to go further." I normally go a full tank if my ride total is a one filler (<450), if I know it's 450+ I normally stop about every 150.

you can buy all the crap you want...

For me.....
Somedays my azz is good for 50 miles
Some days I can go a full tank of gas...

so for me buying 500.00 seat if worthless

I had my stock seat reworked by Mean City, and its great for weekend rides. But when we go for week long trips I put on my Sundowner seat. 700 mile days are not a problem.

Just keep riding and your butt will get into riding shape.

I don't know what butt burn is, all I can say is after I put on my rider backrest I can now sit on the bike literally all day comfortably.
