Default Importing a Route to Ride Planner

I've figured out how to export routes to my Zumo 660 but just took a little ride and when trying to import it into HD's Ride Planner I'm only getting the last 1/8th mile or so. When I converted the Trip Log segments to a route on the Zumo, it shows 58 miles worth of data. Anybody been here before?

I don't have an answer for you, but I'm actually running into a problem with exporting FROM ride planner TO my zumo 660. It tells me that my routes and waypoints have been successfully exported, but out of 11 routes, I too, only have the last 5 km's of the last part of Route #1. How did you get it to actually get the whole route done?

Not sure if this helps. But I found out when using the zumo 660 along with the route planning software from garmin, that you can only export one route at a time then you have to unplug the gps from the computer. Turn on the gps and wait for it to find the new information then import it to that gps. If you have the sd card in then you can export one route to the sd card and one to the gps, then you have to go through the disconnect and import series on the gps. Not sure why but this is the only way I have been able to export several routes.

I tried Route Planner but just didn't like the results. So, I switched to Garmin Base Camp where I planned out a 14 day trip. Each day has its own route which I transferred to my GPS unit. When the transfer is complete on the computer it still takes a few minutes for the unit to catch up. But they're all there, so each morning I just tell it to navigate that day's route.

Here's a partial screen shot of the Base Camp Route. As you can see I've highlighted Day 04 - Tombstone to show that each day is separate from the others. You work on one day at a time and can view it separate from the others. Here I am viewing the entire folder for the trip, so all routes show together. It's pretty easy to use once you get the hang of it, plus because it's Garmin's and you have a Garmin unit there's no problem in transferring files. Oh, it's also free from Garmin's website.

I didn't find this to be the case using Garmin Base Camp or Garmin MapSource in the past. In Base Camp I created a folder for my trip: "Arizona-Utah". Then I created each day's route and saved it in that folder. When complete with all routes, I transferred the folder of all routes all at once. I just sat back and watched all routes transfer. When complete, I unplugged the unit a verified each day was there and complete. Worked like a charm.

In the past I have planned several trips, (see my website below). I first used Garmin MapSource which worked but was a pain to use. Then I tried Harley Route Planner but found some of the waypoints I inserted to force the route to follow a certain road might really be off the road several hundred yards which make the unit go berserk when you approach that point. Base Camp has been the easiest to use. It takes a little effort to learn it, but once you get the hang of using it, you will be pleased.
