Default Nova Scotia (Canada) to Saskatchewan (Canada)

Made this trip on an Ultra last year. This isn't the first time I've done it but always before I'd stay in Canada until Sault Ste. Marie (Ontario) and trek down into the U.S. (roads, weather, $$). Anyway, this year decided to stay north and go around Lake Superior. Imagine my surprise to discover dozens, if not tens-of-dozens of American bikers on the road. At one stop (Wawa) they'd pretty much taken over the small community - some from as far away as Louisiana. A good bunch all but their comments generally floored me (guns, women, booze, pizza??). Apparantly this is a common trek for the more fool hardy.

The loop of Lake Superior is very popular with the touring group types. I have a co worker who is a Winger, and they do a group ride every year around Superior. It is very popular because it is almost all wilderness on about 3/4 of the loop.

(guns, women, booze, pizza??) Add motorcycles and that pretty much covers it.

I'm a native son of Manitoba - Brandon and have been as far north as Churchill.

Not a thing. In fact they were common topics that broke the ice. I think for the most part they enjoyed travelling in Canada. Other topics included the election, politics in general and universal health care.

No pics, it was a business related trip and I was travelling light and fast. Spent about 1 1/2 days in Wawa and would have liked to have spent more time. What I'd really like to do is get up there in the winter with a snow mobile. Oh yeah, the local Tim Horten's saved my life just after the place appeared out of the mist.

Definitely a challenge going this route IMO - akin to Newfoundland.
