If you're into airplanes, stop by the Evergreen Museum in McMinnville, Oregon and get a look at the Spruce Goose.

I was going to mention the spruce goose as well. its a great museum . lots of vintage planes. definitley worth the trip.

And from Portland, it is a easy way out to the coast. It is in the middle of the Oregon wine country as well.
