Default Cabot Trail. Nova Scotia

If you want to see the most beautiful scenery, eat the best seafood ever, meet the nicest people and enjoy the most biker friendly atmosphere then please take yourself to Cape Breton Island just off the mainland of Nova Scotia. The best rides are the Cabot Trail, #4 highway, any sideroad and if you want a real great time take the ferry( you ride right on) for 45mins over to Prince Edward Island. The ride anywhere there is breathtaking. You can rent a cabin in Cavendish and do the boardwalk. Every june they have a run in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Cape Breton called Atlanticade, it is great. Tons of bands, lobster and crab right off the boat. Please do yourselves a favor and put this on your bucket lists. If you ever get to Cape Breton make sure you go to Beddeck and Sydney. Also as soon as you cross the Canso Causeway (a swing bridge) onto the Island there is a very biker friendly hotel with great prices and even better food and they watch your bikes 24/7. I lived there for years and I am in Ontario for now but I will be going back as soon as I can. Hopefully you'll see me on my servi-car at Atlanticade this summer, sat hi if you do, I'm the guy with the cane.

Was up there last year, and you are right. Best seafood, friendly folks and the scenery was incredible. Spent a night in Dingwall in a nice lodge overlooking the water, great place. Never got out to Meat Cove was raining that day so we skiped that. Toured Fort Louisbourg, rode around BrasD lake checked out Glenora Distillery, and ate nothing but seafood. Took the ferry over to PEI and spent a couple days riding around and trying out there seafood, if you like oysters Jacks is the place. Stopped at the Rocks provincial park on the way through the tide change is something to see. Thumbs up for anyone thinking about a trip to Cape Breton it is an awesome area.

I've made many many trips to NS since 1958 when I was about 7.
My Great Grandfather came from Tracadie.
Probably driven up there 25-30 times in my life.

First time on the bike was 2 summers ago.
We rode up to St. John and took the ferry over to Digby.
Headed SW on the coastal route and drove the perimeter of the whole province.
Ended up with the Cabot trail then headed out through River John and Pugwash then into Moncton then headed south home.

Fantastic bike trip, the Cabot trail on the bike is one of the most fabulous rides you'll ever do.

Im dying to ride the Cabot Trail. I understand that it rains a lot up there. What would be the best time to go and limit the chances of too much rain?

Not including the travel time it takes to get there:

How many days is enough for the Cabot Trail?

How many days is enough for PEI?

Thanks

I tried to go to NS last summer from VA. Unfortunately I apparently have some old criminal charges from the 80's that made me inadmissible. I rode up with several others but had to solo back to VA since I was the only one pulled out for a background check.

And before you bash my riding partners that was the agreement from the beginning should one of us get turned back.

I'm working to get an FBI background check done so I can address the issues with the Canadian govt.

Would like to go back as the others had a great time and brought back good pics and stories.
