We are planning a motorcycle camping trip to CO UT and AZ and are trying to find some good inexpensive camping places. CO stops are: Frisco, Hotchkiss, Durango and Grand Junction. UT stops are: Torrey, and Panquitch. AZ stops are: Grand Canyon North Rim, Cliffs Castle Casino and Safford. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. THE camping only has to be pretty close and not perfectly there. We are more interested in nice places than we are being exactly as listed.
Camping in the Southwest? It can get very cold at night around Panguitch and Torrey, even in the summer. Conversely, it will be very warm at night around Camp Verde and Safford. Just be prepared for both extremes.
In Frisco, there are plenty of camping spots both primitive and with amenities. For amenities, the campgrounds around Lake Dillon is the spot, You'll have to check and possibly make reservations depending on when you're going to be there. For primitive, any flat spot in the National Forests around the area will do. As stated above, be prepared to both roast and freeze on the same day when travelling through the mountains here. Rain is also common in the mountains, mostly in the afternoons. Enjoy your trip! http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...E5S2hOAoyEchlw
