Just letting the people know that are going there this year. They are not predicting the road to be open till June 16. Might be a little later you never know
Was up in the area a few years back, Going To The Sun opened on July 3. They had a significant snow in early June. Beautiful area, even if it was a little chilly.
I'm sure alot of folks found it very helpful , they just did'nt have a need to respond. I'll be going to Glacier in mid to late July so it's nice to have a report-thanks.
Not trying to be picky on your June 16th date but here's what the FAQ for the Sun Road said. Just don't want anyone showing up early and be shut out.

When will the Going-to-the-Sun Road open?
Portions of the Going-to-the-Sun Road remain open all year and provide access to many locations and activities. The earliest the Going-to-the-Sun Road could be accessible for its entire length is June 21, 2013. The actual date of opening will depend on whether Spring plowing is complete. Please visit our plowing status page to see plowing progress. In 2012, Logan Pass was accessible on June 19.
Plowing the Going-to-the-Sun Road is a monumental challenge each year. Unpredictable spring snow storms or other weather related events can slow down plowing progress. It is not uncommon for plowing crews to need to re-plow sections of park roads when weather events happen. Safety for our plowing crews, contractors, and the public is our utmost concern and priority. These unknown factors make predicting the opening of the Going-to-the-Sun Road impossible. Our plowing status page provides information on where plows are working. As the status of the road changes, we immediately update our road status page.
Thanks smoke...obviously I should have checked for an update. That earlier date may even improve...I rode to Thompson Falls, Mont. for lunch yesterday and I passed a time/temp bank clock in town that said 88 degrees. We've been having a nice spell of summer-like weather in these parts. Riding over Lookout Pass to Coeur d'Alene, ID for the weekend and looks like it'll be in the 80's.
Thanks for the info. I am planning a mid-June trip to Glacier. I grew up in Montana and had forgotten the fact that they get snow storms as late as the end of May.
