I'm heading out to Laconia from Syracuse, NY tomorrow evening with my wife. We each ride our own bikes. Two days ago, the weather forecast was 10% chance of rain. Now the forecast is 100% chance with heavy rain, some thunder, 20mph winds and 1-2 inches of rain while we travel. Since we are only going for the weekend, our ride is really half the trip. At this point we are considering driving it as extreme rain is just not fun. I've ridden through all kinds of weather before to go to many rallies including Sturgis, Laconia, etc., but with this trip, it seems like only Saturday will be decent weather for us. My wife is also not too keen about going through 20 mph winds with heavy rain (for a long time) on her own bike. I'll feel like a ***** if we drive, but fun and enjoyment is also a factor. Thanks for listening to my rant. Mother nature can bite me...
We're used to it.
I can hardly remember a Laconia bike week when it didn't rain most every day.
Sunny and 70's - 80's for Saturday and Sunday though...........
Just talked to a buddy back in Laconia and he said that while the online forecast was saying rain they still were hearing on local news scattered showers with overnight rain on thursday... of course this is laconia and in all my time growing up there I think last year was the only bikeweek we saw just one day of rain the whole week... That said, I am trailering from VA today, just not worth risking nasty weather when a trailer is accessable.
Every time I go to Laconia it ****ing rains. Just got home yesterday from the trip. Road from Niagra Falls to Concord and 8 out of 10 hours was rain. My day down at Weir's Beach was rainy too.
I just went up to Jammin with 81 in East Durham last weekend. Went up friday in the pouring rain. My club ended up packing into 3 trucks. If it was a drizzle, or intermittent storms we would have ridden, but it was a constant downpour. They way I look at it, I don't have to prove anything to anyone by being miserable in a deluge for hours on end.
