Wife and I are going to take a trip to Colorado in a couple of weeks. Only have a few days, so will probably stay north of 70. Which routes would be the best riding for scenery. Thanks
If you are staying north then Estes park, Trail Ridge Road is a must, peak to peak highway, 119 out of Boulder to Nederland. I am sure others will chime in as there are many roads north and west that are great rides.
Like a million others will say the million dollar hwy.-if you have the time. I'll bet your wife will love the towns of Ouray & Silverton.
Mmmm...north of 70? (but it is a fantastic road)
Just got back from 7 days in the Rockies. Best road trip ever.
Here are the roads I liked north of I-70.
- Given...34 through Rocky Mountain National Park (Trail Ridge Road)
- 14 from Walden to Paudre Park
- 125 from Walden to Granby
- 7 out of Estes Park to 72 down to Central City
- 131 from Steamboat Springs to Wolcott (watch for wildlife and not much for services)
- US 40 over the Berthoud Pass and if you have time take the Loveland Pass loop just south of I-70.
