Taos
Never been to this part of the US. Looking forward to it!
I'll post up some photos after our return.
Thanks to ALL! You have given me a great insight to this part of NM. We'll check out everything that we can this trip and plan a return next year to see what we think we missed.
Looking forward to high country, mountains and cooler weather. It has got to be better than Kansas in July!
Wheat harvest is winding down in this county. Time to head for the high country. NM looks to be the place this year.

Thanks again to you all. Going to be an exploroation of the area, I can see several returns to see it all.
Cooler weather, high altitude, history, and new territory. Will be a great trip. Hopping to make it to Moro, and over to Chama on this ride.
Just need to get away from work,,,, and have a nice ride.
Thanks.

Right now looking @ Clayton Hotel and the Deer Lodge in Red River. IF altitude sickness sets in, gonna drop down to Taos.
We are not B&B type of people either. CHEAP older motels where you park right out front! Nobody has smoking rooms anymore, just need a room with an outdoor exit.
REALLY looking forward to this trip! Sounds like a very beautiful part of the country that I haven't seen yet. Not any farther than Estes Park, just SW instead of NW.
Looking for some GOOD GREEN CHILE!
"Red or Green?" State question, sounds good enough for me.

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
off NM 4 between the Jemez PUEBLO and the town of Jemez
Springs.
Very nice little side drive / ride. The tunnels are maybe 3-5 miles
up a cool side road that gets very narrow and has great scenery.
The pavement ends not very far past the tunnels and there's a
very steep gorge where the creek / river / whatever runs past.
There's an odd fork (Rt 485) off the Jemez road (Rt 4) to get
there. It's a small road on your left past the Pueblo heading
toward the village. It has three branches and you want to turn
in on the MIDDLE one.
The tunnels were built for a small, narrow gauge rail line that
(I think) served the logging industry back when NM had trees.
10 minutes max and you're at the tunnels.
Ridgeback (??? not sure of name, directly across from Los Ojos),
is our favorite restaurant in Jemez. We had lunch there about
6 weeks ago. If there's a guy selling honey on the front porch,
buy some; it's really good..
(Not my video, but it shows the road, etc.. )
