The wife and I are planning a trip for the fall, usually go around mid October to see the leaves, usually go to Tennessee. However, this year we are thinking about Arkansas, in the Ozark Region, any suggestions on where to stay? We like to stay in cabins with hot tubs to soak away the days ride, but doesn't look like the hot tub thing has caught on in Arkansas like it has in Tennessee.
The wife and I usually ride the colors in that area. The best fall colors peak around Halloween. We start in Hot Springs up scenic Hwy 7 to Mount Magazine and spend the night in one of the cabins fully equipped with hot tub on the porch, fireplace inside with fire pit outside. There is a awesome lodge not far from the cabins with a great restaurant if you do not want to cook. They also have a huge indoor pool that all cabin guests have access to. Then we head to Mount Nebo to ride the switch backs.....awesome! When we have had our fill of tight switchbacks its on to Petit Jean State Park......another awesome place on top of a mountain with a huge lodge, cabins and a lake right on top of a mountain. After all that we head back to Hot Springs. Over all a great ride. A little farther north you can ride the Pig Trail up to Eureka Springs, not a bad road in either direction there and plenty of cabins but not too many with hot tubs on the porch. If you need one there let me know and I will send info on the one we stay at in Eureka Springs. Great hot tub and great views.
Thanks FT, what are some must do rides in the area? We are looking at coming up and spending a couple or three days at Mountain View, then heading over for 3 or 4 days in the Harrison area.
eureka springs treetop cottages the cottages are on stilts about 60' up u have huge hot tub with glass 180 degrees around it looking off into the trees its great riding also
Mount Magazine is outstanding. Look it up online. Expensive for the cabins that time of year (I believe over 300 per night). The rooms aren't bad at all, and all of them have a killer view.
Low Gap Cafe between Jasper and Ponca on 74 which is a G-1 rated road by Butler Maps. Truly gourmet food in the middle of nowhere and reasonably priced. Spent 4 nights north of Jasper at Little Switzerland and ate there 2 of them. Good enough that I will make the 3 hour ride over there just to eat again....and may try the 1/2 mile zip-line just down the road.

Eureka Springs! The wife and I just made a trip there last week. Stayed at the Apple Blossom Inn: King Bed with Jucuzzi $59.00 + tax. Right on the main drag, minutes from historic Eureka Springs. All of the roads there are awesome to ride. Don't miss the famous Crescent Haunted Hotel. They also have 45 minute train rides thru the hills. This was our first time there, but won't be the last!!
Do a search here on "Eureka Springs" and "Ozarks" - there are a ton of threads with great info.
NW Arkansas is truly a riders paradise. I've been riding that area since I was a kid. Miles and miles of whatever you're looking for. Eureka Springs is a great place to make your base for great day rides.
