heading to the tail of the dragon this Sept, only thing my mustang seat for my 03 heritage seems to be hard on the butt, max i can get out of it is 300 ,iles or so. normal?????
I have a heritage as well, as much as I hate the look of it when I go on long road trips I use my air hawk seat cushion, on top of my stock seat. It helps a ton, looks stupid but saves the rear. I rode to the dragon last month and in 4 days we rode about 1500 miles with no problem.
I also recommend Airhawk R pad. I have a 12 deluxe and after adjusting (air) the pad several times, i think i got it to where i am comfortable. Looks are not the best but who cares!

I am considering buy a custom Mustang and I had heard nothing but good things about them. You are the first I hear to have an issue with them. How old is your seat?
I prefer Corbin, but they are more firm than the Mustang. I have a friend with a Mustang touring seat on a 2007 Road King and he just finished a 1,000 in 24 hrs. and 1,500 in 36 hrs. on it. He really likes the Mustang.
Maybe yours has broken down or something. 300 miles should be a piece of cake.
Had my seat on my deluxe modded over the winter by mean city cycles. I just recently got back from a 6400 ml x country trip. My bf road his 13 glide with stock seat and hitched about his butt after the first 100 mls and hurt the entire way. I cant tell u I never hurt anywhere but i can say my *** didnt hurt even once.
I really have to look at this from another point of view. How many miles do you ride? While all butts have different shapes etc. and there are seats that will feel better than whatever you have, if you only ride a thousand or two a year anything might hurt.
The older you are the more stuff hurts, but when your mileage is measured in hundreds of thousands the seat is the least of it.
Unless you have one of those stupid stylish seats that are thin as a snake, then you deserve to have your butt pounded. I've found Mustang to make a pretty good product. If it looks like something out of OCC, those bikes were not made to ride.
