Big day out on the Duece.
WHATTA DAY!! Me and the Hawlee split for points east at about 11:15 am (from Oakdale, CA) and returned about 10:45 pm so that's right at 11 & 1/2 hours of roll'n the rubber down the road. I can now say, with considerable authority, that Hiway 4 between Bear Meadow and Markleyville is NO PLACE for a 70 year old man on a cruiser motorcycle!! HO-CHEE-MAMA! I just about bought the farm about a half a dozen times, those switchbacks are murder! A young stud on a sport bike will have a field day, and I'm sure a lot of them have, but us old farts need to stick to less challanging routes. Speaking of which, Hiway 88 on the return half of the day was much more to my liking. It has a lot big sweeping turns that practically BEG the bike to lean over with the throttle on. Nice ride'n that Hiway 88 on my Hawlee 88 Twin Cam Duece. I gotta do that one again sometime soon.
