Rolling Thunder 2014
I intend to ride my XBone from Shreveport, LA to Jackson, MS where I'll pick up the Natchez Trace Parkway up to Memphis, I think. Then over to Nashville and onto the Blue Ridge Parkway to fairly close to DC. I intend to ride down Constitution Ave. for a couple of buddies of mine that came back in a box.
I've got two weeks to get there and as long as I want to get back. I'd love any advise for both the trip and the bike. What to take and what to leave behind. Any thoughts are appreciated. I'd also like some company if anyone is interested

that is a great tribute on your part...too easy to just block old memories and go do something else. have a safe trip.
ran into a group of bikers out in colorado in june that were on their way home from rolling thunder. they were in their 30's and none of them had lost anyone in the war. they had gone to see all the bikes and say they had been...but they were all deeply moved by it. they all had stories to tell about what they had seen. the bonding they saw from the veterans, the wall its self, and the greatness of the american people. they were still several hundred miles from home and it was late in the day at some roadside gas stop. still, they all took the time to tell me about rolling thunder. it must be quite an experience.

Thanks for the support dan_conner. I'll never forget what they gave so that I might make this very post. A local friend has signed up to go and I'm Working on another friend, well, actually his wife. We all know how that goes
California to DC is a killer commitment.
I'm also hoping to make it up in 2014... but we'll see what happens. I was born and raised, and lived in the DC area the last 3 years, and I'm ashamed to admit that I never rode rolling thunder.
