10 days and rode 8 of the days. Home to louisville TN 1060 miles in 23 hrs. then leave TN to the dragon and up brp, camp at the blue ridge mc campground, to denver NC, back on BRP missing only 75 miles of parkway, to I81 into penn, camp state park then to Unidilla NY then home. also went to birmingham AL by jeep for a day. so 11 states and 2740 miles. all riding solo and probably 1500 in the wet. still had a great time.
Me and 3 buddies. My Road Glide, a SuperGlide, a NightRod and a Honda CBF1000 (sport touring bike). We took of from Calgary on a 10 day road trip. The first 3 days of almost 500 miles / day took us to Dawson City Yukon. Yep we did the Alaska hwy. Spent 2 days in Dawson, then did something that they say can't be done with our kinds of bikes. We went over the Top of The World Highway into Alaska (gravel road), down through Chicken and finally to Tok on the Alaska highway. It was 3:30 in the afternoon, my buddy says (the Nightrod), hey it's only 200 miles to Fairbanks, lets go there this afternoon so we can say we did the entire Alaska hwy. I forgot to mention that the SuperGlide had broken down and we were down to 3 bikes. We shot up and back to Fairbanks that afternoon (400 mi return). Next day we started our return along the Alaska hwy, when we got to Watson Lake hung right and took the Cassiar Hwy home through BC.
July 25-August 11 just me and the wife. Left Michigan on the 25th heading to the Black Hills area. Arrived on July 27th and stayed first night in Custer. Visited the Badlands, Wall Drug (never again), Mt. Rushmore and most of the great roads in the area. We left on July 29th heading into Wyoming and stopped by Devils Tower and then over the Bighorn Mtn. on route 14. Very cool road. Stopped in Greybull, Wy. for the night and then headed over to Cody and the Chief Joseph Hwy and then over the Beartooth Pass into Red Lodge for the night. The next day we went back over the Beartooth into Yellowstone and stayed in Gardiner, Mt. Yellowstone was amazing especially the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone (must see). We then went south through the Grand Tetons and spent the night in a little town in Idaho. From there we headed south into Utah near Salt Lake City and then down through Moab and visited the Arches National Park. We made our way over to the Durango, CO. area and over the Million Dollar Hwy. (a must do if you are in the area). From there we headed north up to Montrose area and visited the Black Canyon National Park. If you ever get there take the road to the bottom of the canyon...5 miles 16% grade of very curvy, narrow road with very few guardrails along the way. It was alot of fun. Had to keep it in first gear all the way up. We made our way over to Mt. Princeton Resort just north of Salida, Co. for my nieces wedding. We stayed there for 5 days before heading up to Denver to take in a Colorado Rockies baseball game last Friday before heading home on Saturday. Arrived back in Michigan on the 11th of August. 4,760 miles total with only about 70 of those miles in the rain. The weather was great. Never got above 90 degrees. Ready to do it all over again.
In early June I rode down to southern CO to meet some old friends from So Cal for a ride back north through CO, WY, Black Hills and MT. We rode the roads in that country you all would expect....lots of laughs and beautiful sights. But I think the real story for me was being reminded how the great majority of people we meet on our bike trips are downright interesting, humorous, courteous and want to do the right thing. Folks in motel parking lots, other riders, gas stops, McDonalds at breakfast...everydamwhere. One rider in our group lost his wallet at a stop in Montana. He rode the 65 miles back to the town to find that someone had found it and was fixing to mail it back to him the next day....and then refused a $50 reward. Another time, a rider prepaid his gas with a hundred dollar bill. A couple hours later he realized he hadn't gone back in to get his change. When he returned he was handed an envelope with a note scribbled on it to 'save for a biker who forgot his change.' Just think we're all so lucky to have the US and Canada to wander around in especially considering the grim reality so many suffer in some parts of the world.
Several riders have posted they toured through the 4 Corners area, Moab and Cortez, Monument Valley National Park and Red Rock area. I did that ride many years ago and want to get back there again. The post about bikers in general are cool and honest people are true words and I have seen it over and over. All good posts.
Northern Virginia to site of 1969 Woodstock festival (Bethel, NY). Next day to Cooperstown for the MLB Hall of Fame then through Vermont to Keene NH. Next day rode the Kancamagus Highway and then up to Crawford Notch, through North Conway, a loop through main and then back to Laconia (Weirs Beach). Sightseeing in Boston then down to Stamford, CT. Ride through all 5 boroughs on NYC to see my son in Queens, then home. Oh, did I mention rain?

I have ridden many parts of NM over the years. If memory serves I rode hwy 52 from Las Cruces to up by Santa Rosa, NM It was desert riding, but beautiful country.
Took 2 days off loaded the bike and went to my cabin with the wife for a long weekend. Only 256 miles one way but it was the best 256 in a while. Cut the grass, then the fields and enjoyed the peace and solitude. Had 10 friends ride up on Saturday for the night. Sunday morning while having coffee we watched a bear have breakfast in the cornfield. Just a simple easy ride but a great weekend at the cabin.
