Anyone know any other places in the midwest that are like Poopy's in Savanna IL? That place is badass, but my OL hates the boring ride there and would like a change of scenery. Thanks!
I would be surprised if there was anyplace like Poopy's. You could ride to Anamosa. JP's has a lot going on on weekends and Scooters (their restaurant down the road) ha good food and a riding crowd. Nothing like Poopy's though.
Maybe change up your route? Our route takes us through Johnson Creek WI and then SW. It's not the Blue Ridge Parkway, but it is fairly scenic. Once you get closer to the river there are some nice curvy, hilly roads.

Maybe he needs a new OL. Or put her on her own bike, that'll take the bore out of the ride.
Cross the river. NE Iowa has beautiful scenery as does the Il. side north of Savanna. The Apple River Canyon area is great, too.
Try southern Ill. Shelby Forrest area or over towards the Miss. river.
Missouri has beautiful scenery and roads. Ruined by helmet laws, though.
Hahaha new OL? No thanks - I play my OL's comments against her, for my own benefit. I put her on the bike for a ride down to starved rock, lunch, some hiking, then a ride home - only for the afternoon. The second we get back on the bike (stock shitty seat) she starts. "ugh! this seat is horrible and it makes my tailbone sore! after this ride you need to go buy a new one." BAM! done - just like that.
As for hitting up Iowa, I'm up for that. Thanks gents!
The Iron Horse bar is pretty cool as well, with all the vintage bikes on display.
Take the bridge from Savanna over to Sabula, Ia and take either 52N or 67S along the great Mississippi.
You can run a round trip from LeClaire to Dubuque, up onside and down the other of the Mississippi in about 4 hrs.
For the most part decent roads (smooth) too.
Poopy's to Dubuque via the Iowa side of the river is really good. Stay at Hotel Julien in Dubuque and treat the OL and yourself to a massage at the hotel spa. The hotel itself has an old school vibe and I think has some type of connection to Al Capone.
HAHA actually she does have a single sister, but with three kids - any takers?
I might have to try the Dubuque route, I've heard that's a nice place to ride to
Ever been to New Diggins WI.? Better ridin a little further north up towards the WI. state line, across the top of IL. Thats the way me and the wife are got to not liking the ride from where we are at up along the river to Savanna but once your past there it's good New Diggins, Galena, Dubuque, and so on. A couple bars there in New Diggins, alot of bike traffic thru there.
