Heading to Switzerland in August. Will be renting bike in Zurich and riding to St. Moritz. From there hope to tour Northern Italy and part of Austria. Looks like we will probably be renting BMW's. Anyone here ever rent a bike in Europe? Also what is it like riding there? I've heard the drivers are a lot more courteous over there than here.
I'd join advriders.com. Lots of overseas rides. I'm sure you will find plenty of info and you can post a question if a member. If you do look, find the thread on the Killboy Fail pics of the dragon.
I'm saving now to go on one of the Eidelweis trips through the Alps in 2015.
well ive toured Switzerland twice now from uk through france and you will luv it! The roads are great and I do find riding in Europe better than in uk at times. Anyway back to Switzerland, I hope you have some deep pockets for that part as it is VERY expensive there compared to france, Italy, uk etc.
The scenery there is truly amazing and very clean air!
One place you should visit is the Piz Gloria restaurant in Schilthorn in the berneese oberland (alps part). This is the revolving restaurant that was a hide out in one of the james bond films. You have to take 3 or 4 cable cars to get there (all included in one ticket) and once at the top they do buffet breakfast and other meals but the views are breathtaking with a complete view of all the alps and even the black forest in Germany on a clear day!
I will make a third visit hopefully on my sportster but already planned to do north wales and across to Ireland this year
They even have a Hooters in Interlaken which was ok but nothing like the hooters ive been to in the states! lol
Hope you have a good trip and I know you will enjoy it.
Switzerland is gorgeous in the summer. We did an Edelwiess tour for our honeymoon, Austria, Switzerland and Northern Italy. We did at least a dozen passes, all amazing.
That was over ten years ago, I might try it alone with a rental and a good GPS. We did Tuscany alone with no GPS and we survived.
Riding is amazing and the drivers are very courteous (we were on HD's which I think helped with courtesy).
