Leaving Greensboro tonight heading for Waynesville. (Fiances parents) Then the 60 mile trip to the dragon Sat AM. Any suggestions or must see places while there?
Try this: Ride the Dragon and then follow U.S. 129 into Maryville, TN. Pick up U.S. 321/S.R.73 and ride east on 321/73 until S.R. 73 splits off just east of Townsend to what is called "Old S.R. 73". This is a great road. It will take you to Great Smokey Mountain National Park without going through Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg. So stay on Old S.R. 73 till you get to U.S. 441. When you get to 441, turn right and spend an hour or so cruising 35-40 cruising through Great Smokey Mountain National Park. U.S. 441 will take you to Cherokee N.C. where you can pick up U.S. 19 back to Waynesville.
Ride NC S.R. 215 south out of Waynesville. Then come back up SR 276 to get back to Waynesville. You can thank me later.
Watch out for trucks on the Dragon. There's nothing worse than seeing a semi in your lane (and his) as you go around a curve.
