1st time to Americade 2014
Backing up a bit....She bought her 883 Superlow last June and this is her 1st real bike. She had a 125 cc Yamaha scooter a few years prior that she got her license on but ended up selling it for various reasons. She was doing good with the Sportster was learning quickly. I planned a trip to NY for an overnight in Oct of last year and she ended up having a crash about 5 hours into the ride. She didn't notice I was slowing for a vehicle pulling out, panicked and locked up the front brake, she went down hard dislocating her shoulder and took a ride in an ambulance. I'm glad she was wearing a full face helmet because she did hit the payment pretty hard. The bike had minor damage, crash bars, mirror, exhaust and a rear turn signal was about the extent of the damage. She is about 85-90% back to full use of her shoulder now as it has been a long recovery after the surgery. She never once talked about selling the bike or not riding! She is a Trooper! So I told her that she should probably take the Harley Riders Edge Course which she did in the begining of May. She did great in the course and has gained a lot of confidence. Money well spent! She is becoming a better rider every day.
Anyway back to the trip...
We live about 35 minutes from Laconia NH so we have obviously been to Laconia Bike Week just about every year since the early 90's. We have been to Lake George before but never for Americade so why not check it out.
Gassing up and happy we missed all the rain that was heading our way by heading north!

Some of the awesome roads in VT and NY!

Ferry from VT over to NY. $5 a bike.

Very busy huh? And we were worried the tickets would have been sold out for the day!

Got there early enough to get a nice shady parking spot! Make sure you bring your own kickstand base as they don't hand them out.

This guy has a Gold Wing with a side car rig that the bird rides in. He road up from NYC.

Next bike? Hahaha

Girl stunt team.

Some pics from Friday night on the main drag...

Some NY riding. Once out of the downtown area the traffic was pretty light up to Lake Placid and back. Beautiful area.

One of 2 Border Patrol Checkpoints we hit. There was another Police checkpoint set up to check bikes just outside Lake George. They had bikes pulled over on both sides. I'm guessing for exhaust mods or other violations. Both the wife and I have after market exhausts but the let us through. Just lucky I guess.

Some more pictures from the way home to NH on Saturday.

Another quirk I found was the the hours of the vendor area. Only open from 9-6 and the last Saturday the closed at 5. When I was buying things from the vendors some of them said they didn't necessarily agree with the pay to pay setup or the short hours they had to makes sales.
I did like how the they had the vendors all in one area and the demo rides in another. Very convienent and efficient. We made our purchases and were back on the road enjoying the sights in no time!
